I AM SOOOOOOO BEHIND SCHEDULE!!!
I missed some of the previous classes due to the DISA function rehearsals. I have made a list of all the things that I need to do:
Look at someone's blog and comment on it (last part of Portfolios Defined Task)
Write a Personal Statement and send it to 2 people in the class. Based on their constructive comments, I will rewrite my personal statement.
We have moved onto a new task that is the second part of the Investigation stage. That is what we should be working on now.
Last lesson, Mrs. Lindsay handed out the task, but we were unable to work on it as my laptop was having some software packages on it (including Inspiration).
I spent last lesson designing a theme for my weblog. It's fantastic, even if I say so myself... :P:P:P
I don't want to write about it here just yet, for fear of someone else ... shall we say... plagiarising from my ideas??? :P
This lesson, Mrs. Lindsay led us through de Bono's Six thinking hats. I had previously seen Elementary doing stuff like that, and we had been advised by Mr. Baverstock to use it for my VA Process Journal.
hehe... the girls are fooling around. I think they're sneakoing up on people who are working at their laptops and scaring them. Mrs. Loindsay just told them to leave me alone.
Where was I? Oh yeah, the VA Pocess Journal. Mr. Baverstock told us to use de Bono's hats for that. Obviously it's something the teachers have been trained to do recently. They're always enthusiastic about these new ideas. Let's see how long it lasts.... :P Don't get me wrong! I think it's great that we're getting all these new processes and all but sometimes they're overexcited about these new technological stuff which sometimes don't work out. One time, teachers were taught to send us all our assignments on Outlook as Tasks. Some students don't even check their Outlook email. That lasted about two months. Now we don't even USE Outlook.
I AM MOVING OFF THE TOPIC!
So, this lesson, we went through de Bono's hats. Mr. Baverstock didn't finish explaining the last three in class. I found one of the hats very inrteresting, the blue one, which is Thinking about Thinking. I've got to think about that! Don't you think? lol... that pun was SO overused in class today.
So... now that I've written my process journal entry, I'll finish off my pending work. What should I start with? Let me THINK about that! :D:D:D:D:D

Task (Contd.)
From the advantages and disadvantages of digifolios illustrated in my previous post, I have chosen to list these:
3 advantages of a digifolio:
1. Accessibility - ability to view/edit the digifolio from anywhere in the world with an internet connection and a computer.
2. Ease of organisation - Our weblogs allow us to organise our blogs in any way we please. We may even opt to have mulitple ways of viewing our blogs, e.g. by subject, by grade (in which the project was done), by work sample/assessment.
3. Multimedia - Not only can we display our work in its original state, we can also hyperlink to relevant websites on the Internet.
1 disadvantage:
Plagiarism: Students around tthe world have the ability to view our work samples and plagiarise from them... without getting caught on turnitin!

I'm in ICT class now. I have to finish the task (list advantages and disadvantages, investigate someone's digifolio and comment on it). I HOPE to do that at home. For now, I'll be working on my personal statement. I have to write it, send it to a friend for constructive comments, change it accordingly, and then e-mail all my work to Mrs. Lindsay via email.
The rain may have stooped, the bunnies may have come out to play, but "I don't care said the bear with his nose in the air".

Task from Part1_PFDefined_05
Three important features of a digital portfolio:
1. Acessibilty: It can be accessed by anyone in the world and edited by the creator anywhere in the world (wth a computer that has an internet connection of course :P) This might be a disadvantag as well: It allows other students to plagiarise from our work. (For e.g. Taufiq is taking a look at my previous draft of this very post!) In addition, it may be an issue for personal security, i.e. if the kidnappers of Dhaka city become smart enough, they can access our weblogs online for persoal information and photos.
2. Organisation/Format: It is much easier to move around things on our digifoilo once wehave craeted it, whereas in a hard copy we might need to redo everything. If we want to change the order of the items on a hard copy, we might need to take out each page and put it bak in, whereas this is made easier on a digital folio: we only neefd to adjust the linbks here and there. A major disadvantage to this is that we need to be web-page-authoring-savvy and be comfortable working with blogs.
3. Multimedia: This is a huge advantage over portfolios on paper. It allows us to present our work samples in their original format (powerpoint presentations, videos, etc.) and also show videoclips/photos of ourselves presenting our work. In addition, we are not limited to just an A4 page. We can even create interactive pages on dgital portfolios (I'm not sure if that's possible on blogs).
Rest of this task in next post...

It's Wednesday. We're looking at different blogs as exemplars. I asked Mrs. Lindsay if we'd be creating any gif animations like the Grade 11 batch, and she said that we would.

Week 3 of school
9A is in the multimedia room. We're working on our weblogs.
Last time, I had finished creating my dp blog and today I added a picture of "Ms. Klepper's Class" to the home page. It's large, and I want to replace it with a picture of myself.
So far, I've gone upto number 4 on Induction Sheet 1.
It's really boring having to keep constant records of everything and do vereything properly for my school blog. I want to create another blog that's not for school use.
